I am so excited to share that Scottlyn and I just finished our first Beth Moore study together: DAVID Seeking God's Heart. This was a deep growing time we shared. We dug in weekly and discussed each section. Each week we were pulled closer to God and were able to share more as Mother and Daughter. This versions is written at a teenage level, I found the questions open and honest and not at all caught up in much of the drama of our world. Beth wrote it to deal with the heart issues, that if left unchecked can turn into uncontrolled behavior.

After each study we have done together, we pick out something that stuck with us and write it on a 3x5 card to display where we will see it daily. Here is what we picked:

Our God is a personal God that we can call our own:

He is my deliverer when I am trapped
He is my fortress when I am crumbling
He is my Refuge when I am pursed

Next we are moving onto "Before you meet Prince Charming" by Sarah Mally. We are going to cover this over the next six weeks.

Regency Dresses

Starting in August, a few of Scottlyn's and Shalyn's friend came over to sew Regency Dresses together. They finished them last week and went to a local tea house for lunch in them. Here are a few pictures:

It was a joy to help guide them as they learned to sew.

The Mystery of HIStory Vol. II

This year we are continuing on with The Mystery Of HIStory in Vol. II.

You can read about Vol. I, the beginning of the year here and the end of the year here.

We are continuing using the audio CD's, that make is so much easier on me. Why? you may ask, I have a hard time pronouncing words. I can get so stressed out about it.

This year a I went ahead and printted out all the timeline figures from Homeschool in the Woods.

We are using them for:

School Room Time Line
Personal Time Line book from Sunlight
Timeline 3x5 cards

Also printed out and in a 3 ring binder is all the worksheets/ maps.

Having all of that printed out ahead of time, will bless our school year.

For our classroom timeline board, we used an Elmer's 40x60 Foam Board. Colored duck tape is used for the timeline line's.

Not Back to School Blog Hop: School Room Week

Last weeks Blog Hop was educational . . . I want to tweak a few things we have planned.

A few years ago over here I updated our school room. It works so well for us. The BRIGHT LIGHTS and HUGE work space lets us spread out and dig into what ever we are studding. Below is a picture of what our school table looks like in the school room this year.

One NEW thing we started at the end of last year is a binder for each subject. Each girl has their own shelf and their own color notebooks.

Not pictures is the area when you first walk into the room. Last school year we had a piano in the space. We have moved the piano into the next room and now have a sewing work station set up. Both girls are spending time learning how to sew.

Back to School . . .

It's CRAZY I know . . . . We were all EXCITED to get back to school. The first day of school is always special for our family. For the past two years the girls had wanted Homeschool T-shirts to wear on field trips and other places we may go during any given school week. Vista print let me design our very own. They were having buy 1 get 1 FREE a few weeks back. On the front it said: Homeschool Princess! and on the back it has our school bible verse: All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13 Plus in the flowers, they are just about every color there is . . . so it can go just about anything.

I always try to find surprises for them to make their school year FUN. Last year it was a simple thing as paper clips in FUN shapes. This year it was new containers to put their school supplies in. To dress them up I found some adorable puppy dog stickers.

Young Ladies Sewing Skirt Circle

Cow Appreciation Day 2010

Dress like a COW and get FREE Chick-fil-A!!! That's a no brainier for my family. Were that family who maps our summer trip down to Florida by what exits have a Chick-fil-A on them. We just love Chick-fil-A and are thankful for the meal we had that day. What a FUN one we had . . . we were so blessed to share it with a dear family. Here is a picture of us all together!!!

CAN we PICK kind of Saturday

We started a garden in the Spring and have been eating our hearts out. So enjoying everything we have harvested so far. Now it is time to give canning a try. So last weekend the girls and I did two jars of refrigerate Dill pickles from the cucumbers out of our garden. Here are the girls, they are so proud of their hard work . . .

Now this weekend we went and picked blueberries for the first time. The farm was amazing!!!! The farmer does not spray chemicals on his crop. (A BIG plus) The blueberries were simply HUGE. We had so much FUN!!! Wink, Wink; I think the girls ate more then they picked . . . .

We then went to our local down town farmers market and stocked up on some more fresh cucumbers. We have eaten all the ones from our garden(big SMILES). After that we headed home to start canning. Last Tuesday a sweet friend of mine gave a canning 101 class. I wanted to put what I learned into practice and teach my girls something that they could pass down to their children. So the girls and I made: Blueberry Lemonade Jam, Blueberry Jalapeño Jelly, Basil Banana Pepper Jelly and two types of Dill Pickles. Here are just a few pictures of our hard work:

Pickles:

The first ones (last weekends two jars) frig. dill pickles were tart, had a kick to them and had a sharp crisp crunch.

I tweaked the ones we did this weekend so that they would not be as tart and with less of a kick. But I gave them a water bath, so that I wouldn't have to refrigerate them. They were not as crisp . . . but still good.

We like the sharp crispness of the first ones with the milder taste of the second ones.

Jelly's and Jams:

The Blueberry Lemonade Jam is so good. The idea is to use it the fall and winter as a cheesecake topping or a filling for some jam tea cookies.

Both the Blueberry Jalapeño Jelly and Basil Banana Pepper Jelly can be served over cream cheese as an appetizer with crackers and veggie sticks. Or they both can also be used over chicken as a glaze. They both have more of the pepper flavor then the heat of the peppers.

All three Jelly's and Jam's would make a great hostess gift or CHRISTmas gift for neighbors and friends.

We are going to try to pick more blueberries this weekend again . . . do a little more canning. Plus we also want to freeze some to just eat as a frozen snack in the HOT days to come.

The Mystery of History Vol.1 end of year timeline.

Well we did it . . . we finished history for the school year a few weeks ago. Let me just brag about how wonderful the curriculum for The Mystery of History is. Easy to use, FUN and exciting.It retold major stories from the Bible in the order that they happened alongside significant world history events and figures. A Lady in the making . . .

In our family all birthday's start off when you first wake up to the family singing "Happy Birthday" to you in bed. Our oldest daughter Scottlyn tuned 11 this month.

She has turned into a wonderful pianist this year and asked for a piano cake . .

We were down at my parents home for the weekend and took her to her favorite Mexican restaurant . . she got the hat there.

What a pretty smile she has . . .

She was blessed with an iTouch from her Maw Maw and Paw Paw. Her Grammie and Papa gave her the purse with her initial on it. Plus it was filled with some CA$H in it. She will spend some of it one books from her favorite book store.

Back in January the girls started taking weekly Art Classes every Tuesday afternoon. Their teacher was a retired High School Art Teacher. Mrs. Mendyk is very gifted . . . a blessing to us all. Shalyn and her had a special bond this season with their love of Art. Below are two slide shows of the girls art work:

Piano 2009 ~ 2010

Just wanted to share the pictures of Scottlyn's Spring Piano Recital:

She received a medal for being an Outstanding Performer at the local level . . . that advanced her to the state level. This was her second year making it to state. It is an Honor just to make it to state. 92% of the performers at the state level are Asian, my fair skin dark brown hair and Hazel eye princess sticks out BIG Time. She is excited to return back to playing and improve on what she has learned this year. Her long term goal is to place at the state level.

She also received recognition as being the most improved for all her hard work. She practices about 2 hours a day!! Last fall we switched piano teachers to give her more of a challenge. She is very gifted in her ability to understand and play music. Her mind can understand at a higher level then her hands are able to play. She works daily on exercising her hands, so that in a year or so they will be able to work better together. She knows that this gift is from God.

One of the BEST things that weekend was being able to share it with her dearest friend. They have been friends from the age of 2. They are truly kindred spirits!!

Square Foot Gardening

Well we spent the weekend planting out first ever Square Foot garden. We use the All New Square Foot Gardening Book for our inspiration:

We have two 4' x 15' square foot gardens.

Where we planted: Spinach,Sweet Corn, Red Cored Carrots, Green Onions, Red Onions, Romaine Lettuce, Black Seeded Lettuce, Mixture of Gourmet Lettuce, Squash, two different types of Cucumbers, two different types of Tomatoes, yellow peppers, Jalapeño peppers, Green Bell peppers and Red Bell Peppers and Cilantro.

We have a small area just outside out back door where I have made an Herb Garden. Here we planted: Sage, Thyme, Chives, Dill, two kinds of Mint and Basil.

Tom is now building an 8' x 8' square foot garden so we can grow: watermelon, cantaloupe and honey dew melons. The girls also would like to plant sunflowers in there as well.

I would love to have our own compost pile this season . . so that next year we can use it in our garden.

Easter Recap . .

Life has been crazy the past few week. I am still here . . . Here is a update on our Easter with the family. We had both of our parents over, along with Tom's sister and her children. The girls took a BIG part in helping plan out our menu.

Easter Tomb

Take a can of biscuits. Flatten out each biscuit out with your fingers. Tell your kids they are making a tomb. Take a large marshmallow and explain that this represents Jesus. Put the marshmallow on the biscuit and wrap the biscuit around the marshmallow. Make sure all edges are sealed (pinch until no seam). Put a pat of butter on top. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon to represent the spices that were put on Jesus. Bake as directed on package. You may have to guess at this. After cooked, the marshmallow melts and is gone. Explain how Jesus is not in the tomb, He is Risen!

Cooking Monday's w/Scottlyn

Tonight Scottlyn made: Black Bean Chili w/corn bread.

She is already thinking about meals for the up coming Monday's and has asked if she could cook on another day of the week as well. I am so loving this new season we are in . . . we are growing together as mother/daughter. My prayer is that she will look back on this time we share and want to do the same with her daughters. Maybe evening tell them stories of her cooking with her mama. I am so blessed!!!!

Twirling Skirts

Here is a picture of the girls skirts that they made last week. My mom found the cutest tops to match them just perfectly last Saturday. They are wanting me to wash them tonight so that they can wear them out Wednesday night for dinner with our neighbors. I think they will be making more of this style soon.

Cooking Monday's w/Scottlyn

My heart is filled with the desire to train my daughters to be a blessing to there families and home as they grow into Godly young ladies. Mondays are now Scottlyn's day to cook our family dinner. Last week I gave her a slow cooker cookbook from Taste of Home. She was told to pick out four recipes that she would want to try. We then set down and pick two of them for her to cook the next two Mondays. This week she made Savory Beef Sandwiches and here is what hers looked like:

They were very yummy! This recipe feed the four of us along with our sweet neighbors and we still have some leftovers. The rest could be frozen to use as bake potato toppings next week. I bought two of the cookbooks for each of my daughters hope chest. I will do the same with Shalyn when she is 10 years old. I think that slow cook recipes are easy and a great way to teach my daughters how to cook wonderful meals. When they complete a recipe they will rate/date it using a star system with 4 being the best stars. They can refer back to the date and stars when looking at the recipe again. Maybe even remembering when they first made it.

Fast and Easy

So sorry that I have been MIA the past month. We have been very busy with several projects that I will blog about in the next few weeks. The one I would like to share today is sewing . . . .

One thing that you may not know about me is I went to college to become a fashion designer. I did not go after the creative side when I graduated, but worked in retail and helped developed new seasonal lines with the company I was working for as they were changing their target customer. After the birth of my girls I sewed for them off and on. But I often found myself saying that is was cheaper to but the items already made, then it was for me to buy the pattern, materials and my time to make that item.

Last year my sweet mother-in-law bought a sewing machine for Scottlyn and I started teaching her to sew. She sewed a blanket (for her dog) and bag last summer. It was a lot of FUN!! In the fall my mother taught the girls to make rag quilts for their beds.

Then after Christmas we got the sewing machine back out and started sewing again. Now we are so blessed you see because my mother has what you would call generational fabric. That is when the material goes back several generations. This could be both a blessing and a thorn at times. My mother has material as we Home Schooled moms have bookshelves on top of bookshelves of books. But I like to think of it more as a blessing. My mother sews, quilts, knits . . . she is so talented is all that she does. We take our patterns to her house, she will then pull out fabric and tell us stories behind each piece. Which great grand mother bought it and what she had planned on using it for.

Both girls have started to learn how to sew. The younger one needs more help and gets tired quickly. As she grows older she will want to sew more, I think. We are teaching her by letting her sew things for her dog. My oldest is eager to sew her own clothes and she wants to be a blessing to her family one day. Right now she is being a blessing to her mama. Over the past few weeks my mother has helped them sew their Easters dresses. Last week they sewed a tiered skirt, they are planning to wear it on Tuesday and I will post pictures then.

Below are pictures of a skirt I sewed up Sunday afternoon for them. They were busy knitting scarves. The material is what their Great Grandmother bought to sew a dress for me out of. The only cost was a 99 cent pattern and my time. What I gained was time well spent with my mother as she told my girls about the fabric's history . . . I am so blessed to have the mother I have. The t-shirts the girls got for Christmas . . it is outlined in Hot Pink, the skit has little Hot Pink rose buds all over it. They already had black leggings and will change the black out for white when spring comes . . .

Our theme this week is “Best Face Photo" and the photo had to be taken during the months of December ‘09 or January ‘10 (in other words, a very recent photo instead of one that I could find in my archives.)

Cancer Update . . .

It has been a year today since I has a Radical hysterectomy to remove the Adenocarcinoma, Cervical Cancer that was found in my cervix. People say I was blessed that I did not have to have any type of radiation or Chemo. But, I have had SIX Pap smears and TWO PET Scans just this year alone and plan on having the same regiment in 2010. Then if all goes well, it will be cut in half for 2011. With each visit to the doctor I am on pins, not knowing what she will tell me. The PET Scans are the worse when I become radio active for 24 hours. I try to make fun when I am really scared deep down. It has been a tough year for me, in so many ways, I was a very out going person, active, and always willing to help out. I had to cut back on so much because of my health. And learn for the first time how to say the word NO! My husband who has always been my Night in Shinning Armor, has gone the extra mile this past year. He has been so nurturing and attentive to me when I am at my lowest. Above all he just holds me in his arms and lets me have a good cry when I need to. He is to good for me, God blessed me when I married him.

Last year I spent Shalyn's 7th birthday in the hospital and doped up all of Christmas and New Years . So this year we are having a BIG family birthday party on Friday night. We have gone a little crazy this Christmas and got the girls a few extra things. I can not wait to watch them open their gifts!! I want to watch each of them and see their eyes light up :)

I want to close with this:

CANCER as opened my eyes to the little things that I might have brushed aside in the passed. Learning to say NO has open a whole world to me that has been right under my very roof this whole time. I take each step one at a time and stop to smell both the Flowers and the Weeds. Together they make up a very special bouquet. God, thank you for BLESSING me with CANCER! To think that I am so special to You, that You would allow me to have CANCER, just blows me away. My prayer as always been that others would see and feel you as I do. Your breath now is just as warm as it was last year as You held me tight. You know me better then anyone, for I am your Princess and You are my King. I am ALIVE because of YOU . . . .

Christmas Gifts from the Kitchen

Here is an idea that has been tossing around in my head that I wanted to share with you.

Every CHRISTmas the girls and I bake cookies for my husband to take to his work. We make little cookie bags, filled with a dozen for each one of his employees. Along with a sample tray to go onto the break room table. We do one main cookie and then on the sample tray we put that cookie along with cheese straws & fudge. This year I am thinking about making mini bunt cakes instead of cookies. Doing 3 min cakes per bag/box. Then for the tray do mini cupcake's of the same three mini bunt cakes, along with the cheese straws and fudge. So here are the the recipes we are leaning towards:

Chocolate Velvet "Pound Cake"

Zesty Lemon Pound Cake

Mini Raspberry Snow Cakes

I should also add that we make enough for the mail women, piano teacher, and a few of our neighbors. So tell me what you will be baking this coming CHRISTmas, or if you have a recipe: PLEASE share.

Outside my window... We have SUNSHINE!!! I almost started to teach the girls ARK building 101 last week . . . .

I am thinking...This time next week we will be on vacation and I have a lot to do this week.

I am thankful for... my church, we lost our pastor at the start of the summer, we are a young church (5 years old). The staff has not missed a beat . . they have allowed God to use them and to grow them to

new levels . . . it is so AWESOME to see God at work. We are going to TURN this TOWN AROUND!!

From the learning rooms... still, learning more about my Cannon Rebel xsi, got a new sling bag, remote & tripod this week and Mr. Wonderful order me a NEW lens. I am so SPOILED!!!

From the kitchen... grill salmon & salad for

dinner tonight

I am wearing... Jeans and a L/S shirt

I am creating... Continuing to work on our Costume's ~we are going on a cruise over Halloween weekend and Saturday night is "Frightfully Fun" night. (we normally don't do anything for Halloween)

I am going... do some deep cleaning this week . . . it is always nice to return from vacation to a clean home. Also need to email family girls wish list for Christmas.

I am reading... My Bible and Streams in the Desert (I was given this book when I found out I had CANCER last December . . . it has been such a blessing to me)

I am hoping... That this week will FLY by quickly . . . ready for vacation!!!

I am hearing... PANDORA piano music

Around the house... bags have been pulled down from the attic and ready to be filled, dogs are in much need of a bath!!!

One of my favorite things... SUNDAY'S . . . this past Sunday was our turn to serve at church. We set up the Cafe, make coffee and juice. It is a small thing, but we serve as a family. Then home to take an afternoon nap. We also enjoy watching movies together. We are in the middle of watching JAG, we are on season 5. . . got to love NETFLIX!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Company is coming over Tuesday afternoon for a play~date and dinner. We are all looking forward to it.

Outside my window... Fall is differently here, the leaves are changing fast.

I am thinking... Google: it is going to Rain again!?!, but it is Monday and I do like Rainy Monday's :)

I am thankful for... that I can save my family money at the grocery store (LOVE COUPONS!!) Spent $25.09 and saved $98.67

From the learning rooms... learning more about my Cannon Rebel xsi, at Thanksgiving I will be taking family group pictures. We will be wearing black/denim and I am also looking for ideas for large group of families.

From the kitchen... grill salmon & spinach salad for dinner tonight (YES, I grill even in the rain)

I am wearing... shorts and a long sleeve shirt

I am creating... Costume's ~we are going on a cruise over Halloween weekend and Saturday night is "Frightfully Fun" night. (we normally don't do anything for Halloween)

I am going... to work on packing away my BIG clothes (love being in a smaller size) and reorganized my closet.

Heaven's Grocery Store

I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read "Heaven's Grocery Store".
As I got a little closer, the door came open wide.
When I came to myself, I was standing just inside.
I saw a host of angels. They were standing everywhere.
One handed me a basket and said, "My child, please shop with care".
Everything a Christian needed was in that Grocery Store.
All you couldn't carry, you could come back the next day for.
First, I got some PATIENCE; LOVE was in the very same row.
Further down was UNDERSTANDING, you needed it wherever you go.
I got a box or two of WISDOM, a bag or two of FAITH.
I just couldn't miss the HOLY SPIRIT, for He was all over the place!!
I stopped to get some STRENGTH and COURAGE to help me run this race.
By then my basket was getting full but...

I remembered I needed some GRACE!

I didn't forget SALVATION, for SALVATION was free.
So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started up to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
for I thought I had everything to do my Master's will.
As I wind up the aisle I saw PRAYER and I just had to put that in.
For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
PEACE and JOY were plentiful; they were on the last shelf.
SONGS and PRAISES were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the angel, "How much do I owe?"
He just smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again I smiled at him and said, "How much do I owe?"
He smiled again and said......
"My child, JESUS PAID YOUR BILL A LONG TIME AGO!"

FOR TODAY October 5, 2009...

Outside my window... Looks like it is going to be a cloudy, rainy kind of day.

I am thinking... After I get the girls started on their school I need to work on mopping the floors.

I am thankful for... My husband, yesterday we celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary. It was a day spent as a family: church and then an afternoon around the house, ending with a home cooked steak dinner. YUMMY!!

From the learning rooms... Last week we studies the Trojan Horse. I bought a paper model for us to glue together. I am behind on all the cutting (53+ pieces) Goal: get it cut, so the girls can put it together!!!

From the kitchen... We are going to have a beef onion soup for dinner.

I am wearing... Black Capri knit pants and a t-shirt

I am creating... still working on the Christmas List

I am going... Tuesday I am going to visit my parents after lunch.

I am reading... The Bible & taste of home Holiday gifts and crafts magazine

I am hoping... Still haven't heard back from my oncologist about my paps results. Had to go and see my local GYN last Thursday: I am having some female issues. It is not to do with my Cancer, but it has me in a lot of pain. Tom is very worried about me. She is running some test and I should hear something this week. Because of this I am staying close to home!!!

I am hearing... My girls giggling over breakfast.

Around the house... need to go through my clothes for the fall/winter

One of my favorite things... Michael Buble' . . his new CD comes out Tuesday.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Going to my parents on Tuesday, need to take Scottlyn and get her started on a Skincare Regimen . . . finish up a few projects in the girls rooms.

Today, we had a NEW Publix open just 1 mile down the road from our house. We were so EXCITED. I should also say that both my husband and I grew up in Florida. Publix is a wonderful grocery store. On opening night they were having a cartoonist doing sketches. We all had ours done . . I hope you enjoy viewing them . . .they are funny!

To finish out this week on the diet I have been on. I have lost 27 lbs. so far. I want to get off another two this week if I can. Friend Makin Monday

Let me first state that my husband is the Craigslist junkie of the family. He has bought and sold so many things. Just to share a few: new laptop screen, 3 motorcycles (this would be our BIGGEST turn around items), aid compressor, sofa, dinning room table & chairs, cars, guns, tools, trailers, and a piano. My BIG deal was a chair and 1/2, along with the matching ottoman. Got it for $125, (retailed for over $500), it was a year old and never used.

The Mystery of History Vol.1

Last year we completed our 1st 4 year history cycle. Over the past 4 years we have used both Story of the World, My Father's World and Sunlight. I liked many things about both of them but wanted something more that started with a biblical view point. I have heard so many WONDERFUL things about Mystery of HIStory that I wanted to try it for a long time now. So this year as we starting over at creation, I thought that this would be the perfect time for the change. So let me share with you our timeline. We are now in the 7th/8th week of school. We average 3 history lessons a week.

Here is an over all picture of our timeline. We used a HUGE white form board that I got from Office Max for about $15.99. It fits nicely between two of our bookshelves.

Here are two up close pictures of the beginning (bottom) of the timeline. The girls water colored the days of creation. We use Amy Pack's time line figurine's with the summery. Also each of the girls keep their own timeline notebook. We use the one from Sunlight.

Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap

Yesterday I got together with my sweet friend Joann to make Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap. It only took us about 30 minutes and we had a wonderful afternoon looking over cookbooks/canning books. Out next adventure is to put up apples.

My Day:

Up at 5:30 to make Tom's lunch
6-7 is quite time and check e-mail
7-8 get the girls up, fed, dressed, and bed made
8:00 we start school Bible together then one on one time as needed with their lessons. M,W,F we do Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. T & T we do History and Science.
10:00 snack & chores
10:30 finish up with what ever lessons I have not gone over get with them.
12:30 lunch
1:00 chores
1:30 any other left over school work gets done (AKA homework)

Outside to play or run to town if needed

Daddy's home around 4:30 - 5:00

Dinner is around 5:30 - 6:00

Bed time is 8:00

Well it's that time of year again where I need to update the girls chore charts. This is how I "Make My Home Sing!" week after week. Chores are broken down by day for each girl. This helps them to know what they need to do around the house. This is beside making their bed, getting dress and brushing their teeth each mourning. It is placed into a clear page proctor along with a dry eraser maker. It is stored on the side of the refrigerator for easy excess. To make the from I use Edu Track (I can not say enough about how this product helps me not just with home schooling but with the running of my home!!!)

Making Your Home Sing Monday

School was over at the end of April and now all the craziness that happens in our family the first few weeks of May has ended. FREEDOM!!

This week I am going to do some deep cleaning of our school room: end of year reports, reorganizing our books shelves and the closet. This is not what I really would like to spend my time doing; what I really want to do is go to the lake. But I know this must get done. Also I need to start doing lesson plans for July when we return back to a full day of school.

Also my daughter is in need of some much needed one on one time with mommy. I want to stop what I am going and hold her a little longer. Brush her hair and have some heart to heart talks with her. I am so blessed to be a mommy and so very blessed to be her mommy. A moment is a gift . . .

Happy Birthday Lynn!!!

As a child we were afraid to run toward the ocean alone. We felt a sense of panic in solitude and reach for a parents hand. As we aged we turned toward friends for that reassurance. We are often let down by them, because we place the bar to high for them. As we grow also in Christ we hold each persons hand a little more loosely and not see him or her as our main source of security. God tells us not to trust people, not because He is unkind, but because He cares so deeply for us. He exhorts us to put out roots down deeply into Him, and Him alone. This was taken from my bible study I am doing.

Lord, I am so thankful for the tugging that you do on my heart. Please continue to help me to grow closer to you. May I be still, that I might hear you call me by name. Guide and direct my path and help my roots to grow deep into You, and You alone.
