This week’s theme is about sharing your 2008-09 homeschool agendas and plans. You’ve been preparing your plans for sometime and you’re ready to go. Or you’re still in the planning-stage and need some inspiration or tips on what to use. Because many use different curriculum and methods there is always something new to be gleaned from other homeschoolers. It’s always fun and interesting to see what other’s are using and the WWWWH as Robin Sampson suggests. So this week I hope you will share what you’re doing this year for your homeschool agenda. Share the different curriculum you’re using. You can also include what age/grade you’re using it for, how long you’ve been using it, and why you like it.
Please share a Bible verse that has encouraged you or inspired you during this planning-process, and how.
I have been Home Schooling our 2 girls for 6 years. We started out with A Beka at first and them I spreaded my wings. Hands down A Beka has the best Phonic Program. But I do like to approach History and Science from the classical view. Both of the girls love to read and this is our first year with Sunlight for our History and my oldest Literate. I dropped A Beka Spelling for Scottlyn (5th grade) this year and went with Spelling Workout. I like to format because it is more like the ITBS questions. Shalyn (2nd grade) will stay with A Beka until 4th grade. Again their Phonics is weaved into the whole Language Program. Science: we are using for the first time God’s Design for the Physical World by Ken Hann. We do this along side Timothy Ministry (our local home school enrichment program). I need the support when it comes to all the fun experiments. This is also my second year with EDUtrack. I just love this program. So here is a breakdown of what the girls are doing:
Scottlyn's Curriculum (5th grade)
A Beka Arithmetic
A Beka Language
Ballet, Tap & Jazz
Bible: Sunlight Core 4
Cake Decorating (Timothy Ministry)
Chinese Brush Painting (Timothy Ministry)
History: Sunlight Core 4

All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13

Looks like God has big things in store for your family this year. May He bless you as you trust in Him!!
Oh, that Sonlight! I love it! It sure looks like you are organized. I can't help but remember, however, all the banners folks had with the "X number of days until summer" LOL
Where did the summer go? But it's great to see the enthusiasm to begin a new year.
Isaiah54:13 is my verse too! I think I may have told you that before.
I have to agree with the ABeka phonics. That's what I used with my oldest and he is by far the best reader.
Sounds like a wonderful plan. I've branched out from A beka this year also. Hope you have a wonderful year!
Gotta take a look at EduTrack...
