The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY: October 18, 2009

Outside my window... We have SUNSHINE!!! I almost started to teach the girls ARK building 101 last week . . . .

I am thinking...This time next week we will be on vacation and I have a lot to do this week.

I am thankful for... my church, we lost our pastor at the start of the summer, we are a young church (5 years old). The staff has not missed a beat . . they have allowed God to use them and to grow them to

new levels . . . it is so AWESOME to see God at work. We are going to TURN this TOWN AROUND!!

From the learning rooms... still, learning more about my Cannon Rebel xsi, got a new sling bag, remote & tripod this week and Mr. Wonderful order me a NEW lens. I am so SPOILED!!!

From the kitchen... grill salmon & salad for

dinner tonight

I am wearing... Jeans and a L/S shirt

I am creating... Continuing to work on our Costume's ~we are going on a cruise over Halloween weekend and Saturday night is "Frightfully Fun" night. (we normally don't do anything for Halloween)

I am going... do some deep cleaning this week . . . it is always nice to return from vacation to a clean home. Also need to email family girls wish list for Christmas.

I am reading... My Bible and Streams in the Desert (I was given this book when I found out I had CANCER last December . . . it has been such a blessing to me)

I am hoping... That this week will FLY by quickly . . . ready for vacation!!!

I am hearing... PANDORA piano music

Around the house... bags have been pulled down from the attic and ready to be filled, dogs are in much need of a bath!!!

One of my favorite things... SUNDAY'S . . . this past Sunday was our turn to serve at church. We set up the Cafe, make coffee and juice. It is a small thing, but we serve as a family. Then home to take an afternoon nap. We also enjoy watching movies together. We are in the middle of watching JAG, we are on season 5. . . got to love NETFLIX!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Company is coming over Tuesday afternoon for a play~date and dinner. We are all looking forward to it.

FOR TODAY: October 12, 2009

Outside my window... Fall is differently here, the leaves are changing fast.

I am thinking... Google: it is going to Rain again!?!, but it is Monday and I do like Rainy Monday's :)

I am thankful for... that I can save my family money at the grocery store (LOVE COUPONS!!) Spent $25.09 and saved $98.67

From the learning rooms... learning more about my Cannon Rebel xsi, at Thanksgiving I will be taking family group pictures. We will be wearing black/denim and I am also looking for ideas for large group of families.

From the kitchen... grill salmon & spinach salad for dinner tonight (YES, I grill even in the rain)

I am wearing... shorts and a long sleeve shirt

I am creating... Costume's ~we are going on a cruise over Halloween weekend and Saturday night is "Frightfully Fun" night. (we normally don't do anything for Halloween)

I am going... to work on packing away my BIG clothes (love being in a smaller size) and reorganized my closet.

I am reading... My Bible and Dee Brestin: A Woman of Confidence bible study.

I am hoping... that my husband has a successful presentation today at work.

I am hearing... PANDORA piano music

Around the house... floors need to be mopped (but it is going to rain today . . . it will have to wait), We may tackle the base boards.

One of my favorite things... I LOVE hot tea!!!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Going to my parents on Tuesday and we are going to tackle some sewing projects/homemade Christmas gifts.

Heaven's Grocery Store

Heaven's Grocery Store

I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read "Heaven's Grocery Store".
As I got a little closer, the door came open wide.
When I came to myself, I was standing just inside.
I saw a host of angels. They were standing everywhere.
One handed me a basket and said, "My child, please shop with care".
Everything a Christian needed was in that Grocery Store.
All you couldn't carry, you could come back the next day for.
First, I got some PATIENCE; LOVE was in the very same row.
Further down was UNDERSTANDING, you needed it wherever you go.
I got a box or two of WISDOM, a bag or two of FAITH.
I just couldn't miss the HOLY SPIRIT, for He was all over the place!!
I stopped to get some STRENGTH and COURAGE to help me run this race.
By then my basket was getting full but...

I remembered I needed some GRACE!

I didn't forget SALVATION, for SALVATION was free.
So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started up to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
for I thought I had everything to do my Master's will.
As I wind up the aisle I saw PRAYER and I just had to put that in.
For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
PEACE and JOY were plentiful; they were on the last shelf.
SONGS and PRAISES were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the angel, "How much do I owe?"
He just smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again I smiled at him and said, "How much do I owe?"
He smiled again and said......
"My child, JESUS PAID YOUR BILL A LONG TIME AGO!"

What do you wish that you knew how to do or had more time to do?

I have a college degree in Fashion, my daughter got a sewing machine in the spring and I wish we had more time to do projects together. Here is what her and her sister did (dogie blankets and pillow's):

"The Simple Woman's Daybook"

FOR TODAY October 5, 2009...

Outside my window... Looks like it is going to be a cloudy, rainy kind of day.

I am thinking... After I get the girls started on their school I need to work on mopping the floors.

I am thankful for... My husband, yesterday we celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary. It was a day spent as a family: church and then an afternoon around the house, ending with a home cooked steak dinner. YUMMY!!

From the learning rooms... Last week we studies the Trojan Horse. I bought a paper model for us to glue together. I am behind on all the cutting (53+ pieces) Goal: get it cut, so the girls can put it together!!!

From the kitchen... We are going to have a beef onion soup for dinner.

I am wearing... Black Capri knit pants and a t-shirt

I am creating... still working on the Christmas List

I am going... Tuesday I am going to visit my parents after lunch.

I am reading... The Bible & taste of home Holiday gifts and crafts magazine

I am hoping... Still haven't heard back from my oncologist about my paps results. Had to go and see my local GYN last Thursday: I am having some female issues. It is not to do with my Cancer, but it has me in a lot of pain. Tom is very worried about me. She is running some test and I should hear something this week. Because of this I am staying close to home!!!

I am hearing... My girls giggling over breakfast.

Around the house... need to go through my clothes for the fall/winter

One of my favorite things... Michael Buble' . . his new CD comes out Tuesday.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Going to my parents on Tuesday, need to take Scottlyn and get her started on a Skincare Regimen . . . finish up a few projects in the girls rooms.

Publix

Today, we had a NEW Publix open just 1 mile down the road from our house. We were so EXCITED. I should also say that both my husband and I grew up in Florida. Publix is a wonderful grocery store. On opening night they were having a cartoonist doing sketches. We all had ours done . . I hope you enjoy viewing them . . .they are funny!
